There will be 300 spaces around the seventh art that will reach houses of culture of the ECrea Network, libraries, library parks and the UVA. The first moment will be on Tuesday, March 8 with the screening of the film “Disobedience or how to train fighting cocks”, by Colombian director Juan Pablo Ortiz, at 3:00 pm, in the Audiovisual Room of the Pilot Public Library.

“In the Municipal Cinematheque of Medellín we continue with the purpose of articulating citizens with the different audiovisual arts and with cinema. For March we have a program from the three components of the Cinematheque: training, exhibition and audiovisual memory, so that everyone has access to these activities”, said the general coordinator of the Cinematheque, Juliana Monsalve Castro.

The face-to-face meetings between directors and the general public will begin on March 10 with the Memory Days, with the director Daniel Cortés, in conversation with the person in charge of the archive component, Ana Ramírez, in the audiovisual room of the Pilot Public Library, at 5:00 pm

“I make a special invitation to the Days of Memory. We are going to be talking about audiovisual files, but specifically about the work of creation and experimentation with these files. So we are going to see images, share anecdotes and open a reflection on what it means to work with those pre-existing images”, said Daniel Cortés.

On March 24, at 5:00 pm, there will be a virtual component with the talk “At the rhythm of the margins”, with the participation of the Argentine filmmaker Clarisa Navas, director of “Las mil y una” (2020) and ” Today party at 3” (2017). It will be broadcast through the Facebook of the Medellín Cinematheque.

Similarly, on Thursday, March 31, there will be a meeting with the Colombian Rubén Mendoza, director of “Niña errante” (2019), winner of Best Fiction Film at the Seventh New York Colombian Film Festival and co-editor of renowned productions such as “Miss María: the foot of the mountain” (2017) and “Land on the tongue” (2014). It will be the opportunity to learn about his new book “La cerca” and recognize his experiences, facets and achievements, starting at 6:00 pm in room 1 of the Centro Colombo Americano.

In 2021, the Cinematheque narrated various stories in audiovisual format together with 56,315 people from Medellín. There were 757 virtual and face-to-face spaces, which promoted audiovisual creation and participation in talks, conversations and master classes to enhance the recognition and conservation of audiovisual memory.

The exhibition and archive activities will be with free admission, while the training ones require prior registration through forms published on the social networks of the Municipal Cinematheque on Facebook and on Instagram @cinematecamunicipal where the programming for the first semester will also be available. The invitation is extended to enjoy the events, dialogues and projections that promote and encourage access to new ways of seeing, recognizing oneself and narrating the territory.
