Once again it was Cristiano Ronaldo who became the match winner for Manchester United. Of course, Atalanta Bergamo’s trainer Gian Piero Gasperini cannot win anything from the hype surrounding the superstar. When he took it to one side, Gasperini did not really mean his opinion.

Gian Piero Gasperini should be extremely happy that he will no longer face Cristiano Ronaldo in Serie A. It was the exceptional talent on Tuesday evening who equalized Atalanta Bergamo’s lead twice and secured Manchester United one point in the 2-2 group game in the Champions League.

After the final whistle, Gasperini and Ronaldo talked for a while. “He’s an incredible player, some even call him a problem. It’s nice to have a problem like that. Nine out of ten of his shots are on goal, five of them are in,” enthused Gasperini, commenting on an explosive detail from the one-on-one conversation reveal.

“I said to him: ‘Do you know what we’re saying in Italy? Go to hell,'” said Gasperini, who of course didn’t mean these words seriously. With two games left, Atalanta still has every chance of qualifying for the round of 16 of the Champions League.

However, victories must be achieved against BSC Young Boys and FC Villarreal. Good news for Gasperini: Ronaldo will then not be part of the opposing team.
