With the arrival of the coronavirus, our lives have been turned upside down and we have had to reinvent ourselves in order to adapt to this strange ‘new normal’, even inventing a new kind of ‘selfies’.
During the confinement, things became fashionable that maybe we would never have even done: group video calls with friends on weekends, watching Instagram live broadcasts for sports, cooking bread and different desserts, painting and long series marathons (well, we already did the latter). Accessories (now essential) that we would never have worn have also become a trend: mask and hydroalcoholic gel.
As a result of all this, the posture has changed. We are not saying that people no longer want to post content on their social networks to make their followers envious, but now we boast of new things. As, for example, of the vaccines.
This is why a new selfie has become so popular on social media: ‘vaxxies’. It is about immortalizing the moment in which, at last, you receive the dose of the vaccine and proudly share it with everyone so that they know that you have given a important step to defeat COVID-19.
Many are the anonymous people who have been posting for weeks on their social networks photographs while the health workers administer the doses of these serums. A trend that celebrities have also wanted to join to take advantage of its great reach and raise awareness about the importance of getting vaccinated against COVID-19.
First they were veteran actors like Ian McKellen and politicians like former US presidents. Now we can see younger celebrities like Ryan Reynolds, Sophie Turner or Miguel Ángel Muñoz.
The ‘vaxxies’ They have not finished with the traditional selfies in front of the mirror, a modality that seems to have reinvented itself this spring. And it is that many influencers, tired of photographing themselves at home during the spring season of last year, have decided to take the mirrors out to the street to surround themselves with flowers and natural light.
