While the announcement of a postponement of the French rope access championship has just fallen, Lyon Capitale offers you a zoom on this astonishing profession.
Do you know the job of rope access technician? Often overlooked, this occupation refers to workers who use ropes to perform all kinds of work at height. A rope access technician does not use scaffolding or cradle and even less a ladder. Its intervention makes it possible to reach remote, often inaccessible points of a structure such as a building for example. They thus make it possible to clean but also to repair areas that are difficult to access.
Even more surprising: the French rope access championship scheduled in Lyon. Initially scheduled for June 17 and 18, 2021, the 10th edition has been postponed to spring 2022 at La Sucrière in the south of Lyon. Organized by the French Syndicate of Height Works Enterprises (SFETH), it brings together a series of aerial tests combining skill, speed but also dexterity. In particular an event where the participant has to cross an obstacle course while retaining water from a bucket that he holds in his hand. One event among others, because all of them have in common that they are quite spectacular.
For the curious, it is possible to see more in a video with extracts from previous editions:
