Do you know how much the vaccination center costs the municipality of Draguignan?

Vaccination against Covid-19 is certainly reimbursed by Social Security, but all the logistics adjoining the campaign has a cost, borne by the local authorities.

100,000 euros invested by the municipality, per month

In Draguignan, the flagship of the vaccine campaign against the disease is at the Saint-Exupéry sports complex. This can accommodate up to 1,000 people per day for their first injection, or the second and third booster dose. “The City has been investing nearly 100,000 euros per month since the spring to run the vaccination center”, indicates Bernard Bonnabel, Deputy Mayor for Health.

To this are added the 50,000 euros disbursed by the municipality to buy the vaccination tents and all that was necessary for the care of people. Time is money. “Since the opening of the center, more than 80 agents of the municipality and the municipal social action center (CCAS) have mobilized on positions”, adds the chosen one.

ARS in support

Reception of the public, secretary, making appointments, administrative reinforcement with nurses, are the roles played by these municipal officers, to which are added those seconded by other municipalities such as Bargemon, Callas, Comps-sur-Artuby , Flayosc, La Motte, Montferrat and Trans-en-Provence.

More recently, some media library staff managed by Dracénie Provence Verdon agglomeration (DPVa), have also been made available to the center.

So that the city’s accounts do not see red, the town can count on the support of the Regional Health Agency (ARS). “ARS PACA paid two grants to the municipality in order to financially support it in maintaining the proper functioning of the vaccination center: 95,500 euros in September and 138,455 euros in November”.

That is a total of 233,955 euros. Far from the million euros already disbursed by the municipality. The government, meanwhile, is already considering a fourth dose to combat the spread of the Omicron variant.
