The German organization Tuv Sud again this summer does not fail to give valuable advice on economical driving. You have known about some for a long time, but you may not have heard of swearing.
The main rule for saving fuel is to turn the speed within the number 2000. If your car has a manual transmission and pass 2000 rpm, if possible, shift to a higher gear. Regardless of the speed, it is always good to drive in the highest possible gear, whether the car has a petrol or diesel engine, with or without a turbo. This will save a lot of fuel.
In the city, when you see a red traffic light, immediately remove your foot from the accelerator pedal, and do not wait for the last moment.
Do not drive faster than 130 km / h on the highway, even if a higher speed is allowed. The engines of modern cars are designed so that above this speed the fuel consumption increases sharply – an average of one liter every 20 km / h above.
Get rid of unnecessary things in the car that increase weight. An additional 100 kilograms in the car increases fuel consumption by 0.3 liters. The same goes for accessories such as extra roof racks and bike racks, which disrupt the car’s aerodynamics and increase fuel consumption.
Finally, driving just 0.2 bar with insufficiently inflated tires increases fuel consumption by as much as 10 percent. Especially in the summer, the tires should be inflated as much as possible according to what is written in the operating book of the model.
