Until recently, only 1%. holders of PRL housing books registered them with PKO BP – established by the GetHome.pl portal. Those who fail to complete this formality this year should be prepared for an unpleasant surprise.
– From 2021 the obligation to register in the accommodation books established before 24 October 1990 will apply. – recalls GetHome.pl expert Marek Wielgo.
Theoretically, there are one million housing books eligible for a guarantee bonus, currently ranging from several to several tens of thousands of zlotys. In 2021, they averaged nearly 13,000. zlotys.

The provision will come into force on 1 January 2023which means that anyone who does not register the book this year will be able to request payment of the guarantee bonus only in the year following registration.
This can be an unpleasant surprise for those owners of housing books who, for example, in 2023 decide to buy or renovate an apartment, and it will turn out that they will receive a bonus, but only in 2024.

It is possible that a huge part of the housing books have been destroyed or their owners will not be able to find them after forty or more years since the last payment to the housing account at PKO BP. It could prove it the number of books liquidated decreases every year.
– Fortunately it is possible to obtain a duplicate of a damaged or lost lodging book. The person to whom it belongs should report this fact to PKO BP. The bank will issue a new passbook after the old one is redeemed, for which it will charge a commission of PLN 30, informs the GetHome.pl expert.
