A study by the Mayo Clinic in the United States on the effect of dogs on people’s sleep, published in the September issue of the clinic’s publication, shows that people could actually sleep better when dogs are in the bedroom with them. International Business Times.
Over a period of 7 days, the authors of the study analyzed 40 people who own dogs and who did not suffer from any sleep disorder within 5 months. To this end, accelerometers have been fitted to humans and animals to detect certain movements or body positions.
“We’ve found that many people feel comfortable and safe sleeping with their pets,” said Mayo Clinic specialist Lois Krahn.
In addition, it was concluded that the owners who slept in bed with the dog had a less restful sleep than usual, so it is recommended to only sleep in the same room with the quadrupeds.
However, the researchers point out that none of the dogs studied were under 6 years old, so it is not known if the same conclusions are valid for puppies, which have more energy.
