Do you have a diesel engine? Too bad! From November, you will pay more than expected at petrol stations. It will get worse

Drivers in Poland have already come to terms with the fact that from November fuel prices will clearly leave the zone of psychological comfort. However, users of diesel vehicles will be in the worst situation. Their increases will particularly affect.

Forecasts indicate that already in All Saints there may be a big problem with finding diesel for less than PLN 6 per liter. It turns out, however, that this is not the only concern, because the severe increases will also apply to AdBlue. This urea solution is an essential ingredient without which we will not be able to run a diesel engine with the Euro 6 emissions standard or higher.

Increases and shortages

Anyway, we should worry not only about the price, because the product may not be available at all! This would be disastrous as it would immobilize a large proportion of the trucks. Supply chains can break down if things get out of hand. The spectrum of shortage is the result of, among others production was stopped by the largest AdBlue plant in Slovakia in Europe. Duslo suspended production due to the excessively high prices of natural gas from which ammonia is formed – one of the main components of AdBlue. The Italian Yara and the German SKW Piesteritz took similar steps.

To make matters worse, what is available on the market is specially bought by speculators. As a result, the risk of a fluid shortage generates a price increase. For this reason, the Slovak government has secured 500,000 for transport. liters of solution. In Hungary, on the other hand, you cannot refuel more than 100 liters of AdBlue or purchase a maximum of 2 packages. In other countries, the situation is observed and similar steps cannot be ruled out. There should be no shortages in Poland, as AdBlue is also produced by Grupa Azoty, but in the long run it is impossible to saturate the market with our resources.

How much will AdBlue be more expensive?

The fluid reducing the number of harmful compounds was usually nothing expensive. Before the pandemic, it was worth about PLN 2 per liter. Although now the price is over PLN 5 per liter, it is not the end of the increases. The president of the management board of Mital (a distributor of AdBlue produced by Grupa Azoty), Bernadeta Szybińska, said in an interview with trans.info that prices for AdBlue will increase by “About 50 percent”! Worse, prices are expected to rise steadily in both November and December. According to CEO Szybińska, the record price increase may last at least until the end of March 2022.
