Do we really have to hold a service before the match?

The director of FC Spartak Trnava, Milan Cuninka, also recently issued an opinion on the current situation.

Ironically, he also asks whether the Spartak from Trnava should hold a service before the match or a concert during the half-time to show that sport is discriminated against in our society ?!

Opinion of the director of FC Spartak Trnava Milan Cuninka on the current situation

No worries about culture! Festivals, concerts and other mass cultural events have just started under this motto. Visitors do not have to prove themselves with a vaccination card or a negative test. They can be refreshed and culture has added to other areas of social life that are returning to normal. Today, almost without restrictions, a person can go to a swimming pool, a church, a restaurant …

How’s the sport? Well, just like during the whole pandemic (and not only during it) – on the very tail of interest. Be careful, we wish it to culture and we do not ask for tightening, we are just envious.

No one said it out loud, but according to the behavior of the competent ones, it is clear that sports events were to blame for everything, although this is not the case, and if there was evidence of it, they would have been published with great pomp. Sports venues are the first to close when the condition worsens and the last to open when the situation improves.

With restrictions on sports! The new year of the Fortuna football league will start on Saturday with the opening round. It may not seem so, but it will be the third season that will be significantly affected by anti-pandemic measures. According to the currently valid guidelines, there can be a maximum of 1,000 spectators in stadiums (regardless of the size of the stadium), who must be either vaccinated, freshly negatively tested or after overcoming the covid.

We do not downplay the situation with coronavirus. We are aware of the threat and see what the disease has left behind. However, the competent ones who hide behind the consortium of experts are not only unable to help conceptually, but they are also unable to create the conditions for sport to help itself within limited possibilities.

If the same group of people who can go to a concert with a glass of beer, dance and sing under the stage with their heads pressed on their heads, want to go to a football match, they must be vaccinated or tested, sit separately and can’t even have a glass of water. . If everyone met in a pub in front of the stadium, that’s fine. At the stadium, it is necessary to endure in thirty-degree heat with tap water in toilets.

Does it seem like a hair’s breadth? Yes, that’s exactly what it is. Logic is exactly what all decisions have been missing since the beginning of the pandemic. What can be done somewhere is forbidden elsewhere. Do we really have to hold a service before the match or a concert over half time to show that the sport is discriminated against in our society ?! Or should we start banging on the tables when we see that dialogue and arguments are like that famous pea and a wall?

On behalf of the premier league club, which, in addition to the professional team, covers more than four hundred children, we no longer want that! We demand the same conditions as other areas of the social sphere. Sport is a significant contributor to the state coffers. Hundreds of people do it professionally, maybe millions of amateurs, and the rest should. We do not want several-year ties to be broken and habits to be broken just because there are lazy populists among those who make the decisions.

The recently ended EURO football was also played in Hungary, for example, where the stadium in Budapest cracked at the seams. The Czech league also starts over the weekend. Five thousand stadiums can also be sold out, arenas with more than ten thousand spectators can be half full. In September, Pope Francis is going to visit Slovakia and he will probably not serve Mass in front of a thousand tested believers …

We don’t know why we are stricter than elsewhere and at the same time stepmother when it comes to sports. With one exception. The Olympic Games begin in Tokyo in a moment. Perhaps one of the Slovak athletes will manage to win a medal there. It will then receive, congratulate, take photos and shake hands …
