JAKARTA – Even though you have locked the door of the house, it does not mean that the house is completely free from the threat of theft. Therefore, it is important to provide extra security in anticipation of shrewd thieves.

This was revealed by the official Facebook statement. Just as real-world thieves are attracted to homes with poor security, online hackers, according to Facebook, are constantly looking for vulnerabilities to break through users’ social media accounts.

Hackers are an ever-present danger on online platforms. They seek to exploit security loopholes.

“One way that can help add another layer of security protection for social media accounts is to enable Two-Step Authentication (Two-factor authentication),” wrote Facebook.

The Two-Step Authentication feature is like a home alarm that completes the function of a padlock. This feature provides double security on social media accounts, to avoid being burglarized by fraudsters.

So, how to activate this feature?

Facebook

Open the Settings menu on the Facebook application, then select Security and Login
Scroll down, select Use two-factor authentication
Select one of the two security methods that appear on the screen: the login code from the authentication application; or code from SMS on mobile
Once two-factor authentication is active, enter the code from Facebook when logging in on a different device/gadget
