On the first tossdan in mass, everyone who likes Småland and its dialect is invited to celebrate the day with princess cake. It is the day when all Småland citizens celebrate their origins and proudly recall the deficient use of the letters r and s.
So the celebration of Fössta tossdan started en masse
The background to the celebration is that this combination of words pronounced in the Småland dialect sounds extra nice and fun. So to celebrate the day, you replace all the “rs” with only “ss”, and treat yourself to a “massipant pie”. Some believe that if it is to go right, a “bess” is also required.
It is the Småland native Jonas Svenningsson who is behind the fact that Fössta Tossdan is celebrated en masse with mass pledges all over the country. It all started in 2010 with an aunt who spoke a wide range of Småland – and then a move to Stockholm.
