Do the corona vaccines also work in cancer patients?

There is already a small-scale study in Belgium in which about 200 patients have been followed after vaccination, but now it concerns a much larger group. In addition, there has been coordination with other foreign researchers, so that the results of different countries can be compared. They seek answers to the question whether certain cancers are extra or less sensitive to the vaccine and what the influence is of the type of treatment the patient receives.

“The results will also be interesting for other groups with a weakened immune system,” points out Erwin Lauwers of Kom op tegen Kanker. “It is a unique situation where we can follow up many patients in a real life situation. During the vaccination itself, the cancer patients will be asked whether they want to participate in the study. They will then be closely monitored for a year. ”
