And if you have a heat pump and/or an electric car? They require a lot of energy, but that needn’t be a problem if capacity pricing is introduced, says Leen Vandezande, as long as you pay attention to how you use them.
“If you always choose to recharge your electric car very quickly, you could pay more than today because you have a high consumption peak. Let’s say you have an 11 kilowatt charging station and you use it when you cook – electrically – you end up with a peak consumption of around 15 kW and you pay more due to the capacity rate than today.
“This can easily be fixed by waiting a while before reloading until the cooking is complete. Often you can also set this on the car itself or on the charging station. So you don’t even have to be very aware of it. There are automatic solutions for this”.
