Sigrid Kaag, the intended Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister, will not be present at the inauguration of the new cabinet tomorrow. The D66 politician has tested positive for corona, she said on Twitter.
Her swearing in by King Willem-Alexander will therefore take place digitally. After that, she will not appear on the platform of Noordeinde Palace, for the traditional platform photo, which, according to the Government Information Service (RVD), will continue as usual.
“It’s a slightly different start than I had hoped, but I’m going to work full of energy,” writes Kaag. She was already in quarantine because someone close to her had tested positive. For that reason, she was not at the inaugural meeting yesterday, the first meeting of the new government team.
That self-isolation now lasts longer. She says she feels “fortunately fine”.
