Do not trust anyone. Ban self pity. The first trailer introduces Fincher’s film about a killer

A lone hitman played by Michael Fassbender fights against his superiors and himself in director David Fincher’s new film called The Killer. On Tuesday evening, the Netflix video library published the first teaser trailer from it. The film will premiere this Sunday in the main competition of the Venice festival, viewers will see it on the paid platform on November 10.

According to to Deadline.com this psychological thriller was loosely adapted from the comic of the same name by French writer Alexis Nolent, known under the nickname Matz, and artist Luca Jacamon. The first workbook was published in 1998.

Further details about the story of the film are not known. According to magazine Theverge.com is supposed to revolve around a sociopath who has been murdering on a treadmill for years and never left a mark – until he stopped doing it. Now he is traveling the world on his latest mission and at the same time has to ask himself if he is losing touch with reality.

“Stick to the plan. Trust no one. Forbid compassion. Anticipate. Don’t improvise. Don’t give anyone an advantage. Fight only when you’re paid for it,” repeats the hero played by Fassbender in the first trailer, convinced that “compassion is weakness and the weak are vulnerable” .

Sixty-one-year-old director David Fincher made his films famous Seven, Fight Club, Zodiac or Gone. He has been nominated for an Oscar three times for directing, specifically with the dramas The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network and most recently with 2020’s Manke, which was his last feature project to date. Fincher already filmed for Netflix. In addition, he participated in two series of the popular TV series Mindhunter.

In addition to Michael Fassbender, known from the films 12 Years in Chains or Steve Jobs, the new film features Tilda Swinton, Charles Parnell, Sophie Charlotte and Arliss Howard. Music composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

The project dates back to 2007, when the Paramount studio acquired the rights to adapt the comic book and engaged David Fincher. However, the film took 16 years to make.
