During the winter, as temperatures gradually decrease, many mothers resort to increasing the number of pieces of clothing that their child wears, for fear of him contracting a cold or influenza, which is what Dr. Al-Issawi Al-Asi, a specialist in pediatric and neonatal diseases at Al-Azhar University, warned against, stressing that it is a habit. Unhealthy. He explained that the child’s clothing should be consistent with falling temperatures, without increase or decrease, and with a number of pieces appropriate to the weather.
The pediatrician continued his speech, warning first of all against increasing the number of layers of clothing for the child, especially since most types of clothing that the child wears in the winter are heavy and made of synthetic fibers, which may cause him to suffer from a skin problem called sensitive Friction, which is a type of allergy linked to the nature of these clothes and their fibres. Among the types that cause this type of inflammation are polyester and tricot, as well as wool and types of clothing that trap heat.
These infections appear in the form of redness, rashes, and visible infections on the child’s skin, as a result of the lack of ventilation and the constant friction of these clothes with the skin. Dr. Al-Isawy continued his speech, explaining that the treatment of this condition is local by applying “cortisone” ointments, especially for children in some advanced cases, or paints. A simple palliative for some normal cases. The child must wear pure cotton clothing, and over it he can wear wool and polyester, without direct friction or contact with the skin at all. The chances of older children developing this allergy are lower compared to infants and young children.
