What does the law say about the bonus?
Article 87 of the LFT establishes the following:
“Workers will have the right to an annual bonus that must be paid before December 20, equivalent to at least fifteen days of salary. Those who have not completed the year of service, regardless of whether they are working or not on the date of settlement of the bonus, will have the right to be paid the proportional part of it, according to the time they have worked, whatever this may be. ”.
What does the bill propose?
Concern among workers arises after the bill that proposes increasing the minimum wage from 15 to 30 days.
On October 2, the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) bench in the Chamber of Deputies, headed by Carlos Puente, proposed modifying article 87 of the Federal Labor Law to establish that workers have the right to an equivalent annual bonus , at least, to 30 days of salary, currently it says that it must be at least 15 days.

Are they paid in 15 or 30 days?
This 2024, Mexican employees who have access to this benefit will enjoy 15 days of minimum wage, since the initiative proposed by PVEM legislators has not yet been approved.
It should be remembered that in August 2022, Morena proposed increasing the bonus from 15 to 40 days of salary.
