The emergency services are working hard to get the fire that broke out on the night of Tuesday in the electronics department store in Märsta north of Stockholm under control.
– We are trying to save the building, says Ludvig Sääv, line operator at the rescue service in Stockholm.
The fire is considered not to be under control yet, as the fire service cannot reach the roof. Nearby buildings are cooled down to prevent spread.
– There is a solar cell installation on the roof, which makes it more difficult for us to access the roof and see if there is a fire there, says Ludvig Säav.
Another fire broke out in a workshop in Bromsten in northwest Stockholm during the night. The workshop has burned down and the emergency services have left the scene.
Both incidents are being investigated under the heading of suspected arson. According to Daniel Wikdahl, the police’s press officer, there is nothing concrete that points to the fires being arson.
– But there are high values linked to both buildings and since there is no obvious cause of the fire, we have to investigate, says Daniel Wikdahl.
There should be no connection between the two fires.
