Dmitry Stakhovsky – a guy who committed suicide over a criminal case was secretly cremated in Belarus

In Belarus, the body of 18-year-old Dmitry Stakhovsky (Merkulov) was secretly cremated, who committed suicide after starting a criminal case against him for participating in the protests. Only 10 college students were taken to cremation, where the guy studied. The friends and foster family of the deceased were not even informed about this.

This was announced on Tuesday, June 1, in Telegram by the human rights center “Spring“The cremation took place six days after the tragedy – the guy jumped from the 16th floor of a high-rise building on May 25.

Human rights activists said that ten people from the College of Light Industry and Integrated Logistics were chosen by the administration. The management of the institution simply entered the classroom during classes, selected the students and made them turn in their phones. The students were taken away for cremation without even explaining where they were going.

According to human rights activists, no one else could get to the cremation, although Stakhovsky had a foster family in Italy, where he lived for some time. What will happen to the guy’s ashes is unknown.

Recall Stakhovsky left a suicide note on social media, saying that the Investigative Committee of Belarus blames the suicide. He opened a criminal case against the guy for participating in rallies on August 9-11, 2020.

In the afternoon of May 25, the young man was interrogated in the UK, and in the evening he committed suicide.
