Ex president Russia, Dmitry Medvedevwho is a close ally of the President Vladimir Putinconfirms that Ukraine is part of Russia. Medvedev, who is now deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, also ruled out peace talks with Ukraine’s current leadership.
As reported ReutersTuesday (5/3/2024), this confirmation was conveyed by Medvedev in his latest speech which was full of hostility towards Ukraine in the southern Russian region on Monday (4/3) local time.
Medvedev emphasized in his speech that Russia would carry out what he called a “special military operation” until the other side surrendered. He also said that what he called a historic part of Russia should “return home”.

Medvedev spoke in front of a map of Ukraine that showed the country as a much smaller, landlocked region, squeezed by Poland, with Russia in full control of its eastern, southern coastline and along the Black Sea.
“One of Ukraine’s former leaders once said that Ukraine is not Russia,” he said.
“The concept must be eliminated forever. Ukraine is of course Russia,” Medvedev stressed in his speech, which was greeted with applause from the audience.
In his speech, Medvedev also ruled out peace talks with Ukraine’s current leadership, led by the President Volodymyr Zelensky. The war has continued on Ukrainian territory since Russia launches an invasion in 2022.
