dm drugstore offers free cash withdrawals

Withdrawing money free of charge has been possible for a long time: Now the dm drugstore offers its service for the first time regardless of the purchase value. This is primarily intended to help rural customers.

The dm drugstores are now offering a new service: According to this, withdrawing cash in the more than 2,000 dm stores in Germany is possible free of charge from the first product purchase.

Withdraw cash of up to 200 euros from your checking account

This means that regardless of the purchase value, customers can withdraw up to € 200 in cash from their account when paying with their checking card. “We always want to further develop our services in the dm markets,” says dm managing director Martin Dallmeier.

The drugstore was the first retailer to withdraw cash free of charge when purchasing just one product. “So our customers don’t have to go far to get cash. This service offers added value especially for customers in rural areas, but also for the increasing number of direct bank customers,” said Dallmeier.

Many supermarkets also offer service

According to the Handeslverband HDE, around 22,000 supermarket branches now offer cash withdrawals. Every third customer therefore regularly uses this option. The minimum purchase values are often between 10 and 20 euros and a maximum of 200 euros can be withdrawn. Lidl and Aldi have already introduced a lower minimum purchase value of five euros.

The markets use the so-called cashback process as a marketing method. While bank branches and ATMs are becoming less and less, service at the cash register is becoming increasingly popular, especially in the country.
