DLSS 2.0 Makes In Death Stranding Wonders

So far, the exclusive title for PlayStation 4, Death Stranding, which will be shown on computers in less than 14 days, was preliminarily received for testing by the foreign website Tom’s Hardware, which tested the technical side of the game and boasted of its discoveries and results to readers.

The game supports widescreen resolution, frames per second are limited to 240, the graphics page looks better than on PlayStation 4 and the game also allegedly includes a quest with Half-Life themes, but the most interesting thing is that the game supports DLSS 2.0 smoothing technology from Nvidia, which uses artificial intelligence to smooth the image, powered by the Tensor core of RTX series graphics cards.

Death Stranding offers two DLSS 2.0 modes – quality mode and performance mode. Unlike TAA anti-aliasing, which can also be found in the game, the quality mode looks best mainly because it doesn’t blur the image as much. The performance mode reportedly looks worse than TAA at lower resolutions. It will probably be 1080p.

The RTX 2080 Ti graphics card will have no problem starting the game at 4K 60fps. When the DLSS 2.0 quality mode is turned on, the game runs in 4K at 105fps, without using this technology “only” 78fps, which is a 34% difference.

The game was also tested on the weakest card in the RTX series, 2060. In 1080p, the fps increased from 103 to 128 when DLSS 2.0 quality mode was turned on. In 1440p, the fps jumped from 75 to 100, and in 4K, it increased from 43 to 56fps. Reportedly, the quality mode can increase performance by 30-35%. However, the card can reach 4K at 77fps with the power mode on, and if you don’t look at every pixel, you won’t know the difference in 4K between these modes.

This smoothing technology should be added to every game.

Death Stranding also supports AMD’s FidelityFX CAS anti-aliasing technology, which works similarly to DLSS, but does not require a Tensor core, a specific line of graphics cards. However, this smoothing does not deliver such stunning performance, but if you have an AMD graphics card and do not like to use blurred TAA, you will definitely be satisfied anyway. On the 5700XT graphics card with TAA, 76fps was measured in the game, after activating FidelityFX CAS, the performance dropped to 71fps.

As can be seen from the impressions and actually the hardware requirements themselves, Death Stranding will be a great looking and perfectly optimized game. The Decima engine that the game uses will be one of the amazing game engines and I personally can’t wait to see Horizon Zero Dawn, which should arrive this summer.

Death Stranding is released on July 14 on PC. You can pre-order the game at Xzone.cz.
