There is an alarming trend in Germany: fewer and fewer children can swim safely. A primary school in Kierspe reports that around half of its students cannot swim. This worrying decline in children’s swimming skills has prompted the German Life Saving Society (DLRG) in Kierspe to take action.

DLRG Kierspe relies on swimming courses during the holidays

The DLRG in Kierspe has decided to counteract this trend and is launching a campaign. During the upcoming autumn holidays, from October 2nd to 13th, a voluntary swimming course will be offered to the students. The swimming course takes place in the local indoor pool in Kierspe and offers children the opportunity to improve their swimming skills or learn from scratch.

Swimming course receives support from the Free Voters’ Group Kierspe

The cost of the swimming course is 90 euros per child. In order to ensure that as many children as possible can take part in this important program, the Free Voters’ Group Kierspe has decided to support the children by contributing 20 euros per child. At the end of the swimming course, all participating children will be rewarded with a certificate and the seahorse badge. /DoP
