Elaine Thompson-Herah also proved to be in a class of its own in the women’s 100 meters during the Diamond League final. The Jamaican stopped the clock at 10:65, barely 11 hundredths slower than her personal best.
Among the men, the victory on the king’s number went to the American Fred Kerley (9″87).
In the pole vault it was of course looking forward to the Swedish phenomenon Armand Duplantis. Just like at the Memorial Van Damme, he also tried three times in Switzerland to improve his own WR to 6.19m, three times “Mondo” failed for a swirling mass.
In the women’s competition, the Russian Anzjelika Sidorova was only the third woman ever to cross five meters at the same number: 5.01m. Only Jelena Isinbayeva and Sandi Morris showed her that.
