FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Constitutional Law Expert, Professor Andi Asrun expressed his opinion regarding the decision of the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP) to impose sanctions on the General Election Commission (KPU).
He argued that the DKPP had no authority to sanction the KPU because the KPU was only carrying out its constitutional duties.
In an interview conducted on Monday, February 5 2024, Prof. Andi emphasized that the DKPP made a mistake by punishing the KPU, stating that all forms of political content in the DKPP decision were irrelevant considering the fundamental mistakes that had occurred.
“Wrong, wrong is wrong, so DKPP cannot punish the KPU,” stressed Professor Andi.
“I think the legal facts are wrong, there’s no need to bring it into politics, that’s wrong,” explained Andi.
Furthermore, Prof. Andi added that the DKPP decision would not affect Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s position as Vice Presidential Candidate in the upcoming presidential election.
“There is no problem, there is no problem, it will not be affected, Gibran’s position will remain,” said Andi,” said Andi.
Andi also invited the public to welcome the general election with a positive spirit, emphasizing the importance of elections for the future of the Indonesian nation and underlining the need for election organizers to carry out their duties fairly and without taking sides.
“Voters must come feeling happy, because this election is important for the future of the Indonesian nation. “So I think election organizers must really carry out their duties without taking sides, that’s what I think is the most important thing,” he said.
