This is as stated in the Regional Regulation Plan (Raperda) regarding Electronic Traffic Control (PL2SE).

“In our proposal, in the proposal, two wheels (including drivers who are subject to ERP service rates),” said Syarif, quoted from Kompas.comTuesday (17/1/2023).

Overview of the ERP system

Transportation Observer Djoko Setijowarno explained that the system ERP is system developed for restrictions on private vehicles.

This system is an instance of travel request management or transport demand management (TDM).

“JBE otherwise known as congestion charging is a traffic control method, which aims to reduce the demand for road use to a point where the demand for road use no longer exceeds road capacity,” he explained, when contacted by Kompas.com, Wednesday (18/1/2023).

Previously, talk of plans to implement an ERP system had been heard in the era of Governor Sutiyoso with the issuance of Governor Regulation No. 103 of 2007 concerning Macro Transportation Patterns.

Djoko said the ERP system was an unpopular policy.

“ERP is a very unpopular policy, maybe only those who care about transportation and the environment will agree, the rest will refuse,” he explained.

Benefits of an ERP system

Although not popular, ERP systems have been adopted by several countries because this system has a number of benefits. One of them, reducing traffic jams and shorten travel time.

In addition, the ERP system is also able to improve traffic safety and change people’s behavior in traffic.

From an environmental point of view, this system has the benefit of reducing air pollution levels.

The implementation of this ERP system will also have an impact on improving public transportation services. This is because the ERP system encourages the shift from private vehicles to public transportation.
