DKI OJK is optimistic that MSME performance will recover soon

The key is adapting to the pandemic

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) Regional I DKI Jakarta and Banten are optimistic that the performance of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the capital will soon recover because the decline in the number of victims and active cases of COVID-19 provides great optimism.

“The key is adapting to the pandemic, which we don’t know when it will end, but positive signs have been seen,” said Head of OJK Regional I DKI Jakarta and Banten Dhani Gunawan Idat during a discussion on MSME financial planning in Jakarta, Thursday.

Another positive sign, he continued, is the achievement of vaccination in DKI Jakarta, which has reached 100 percent for the first dose and is currently boosting the second vaccination.

To take advantage of the momentum for improvement, Dhani encourages MSME players to dare to take creativity, look for gaps by adjusting current conditions, for example by utilizing communication technology or digital means.

This method, he said, is expected to meet market demand or needs by digitizing.

Meanwhile, in order to easily get access to capital in financial service institutions, he suggested to MSME actors to improve their credit obligation records.

In addition, he also encouraged MSME actors to ensure contact numbers that were easy to contact and keep financial records to assist the financial access process.

OJK, he continued, had closed around 3,365 illegal fintechs that harmed the public.

Meanwhile, regarding OJK’s support for the business world during the pandemic, the Central OJK previously planned to extend credit restructuring until March 2022.

Previously, the Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, Wimboh Santoso, said that the discussion on the extension of the loan restructuring would be carried out more quickly so as to help the national economic recovery.

OJK noted that the realization of bank loans in June 2021 reached Rp. 67.39 trillion or higher than the same period in 2020 of 0.59 percent.
