REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD August Hamonangan supports the DKI Provincial Government in forming a Special Task Force for Handling Monkey Pox considering the increase in the number of cases in the last few days.

“The DKI Health Service must be alert in dealing with this outbreak, even though the increase in cases is quite slow, they still have to be vigilant and alert,” said August when confirmed in Jakarta, Friday (10/11/2023).

According to him, the existence of the task force is a form of the government’s seriousness in saving DKI residents, especially those vulnerable to disease such as children and the elderly.

The task force is expected to be able to carry out counseling and examinations up to the RT level through the Community Health Center to reduce the number of victims of this disease.

“Increasingly cases of monkey pox in society must be accompanied by strengthening the vigilance of health workers in efforts to prevent and control disease,” he said.

Apart from that, he also asked the DKI Health Service to carry out strict tracking of groups at high risk of contracting or transmitting the monkey pox virus.

“Not only tracking, but also monitoring those with symptoms and those exposed until they recover completely,” he stressed.

He also urged the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) to accelerate the administration of vaccines. “The DKI Health Service also needs to coordinate with the Ministry of Health and target the outbreak of monkey pox to be resolved until the recovery process is completed,” he said.

The DKI Jakarta Health Service said that as of November 7 2023, there were 29 active positive cases of monkey pox in the capital city. During November 2023, there were a total of six new cases of monkeypox.

The DKI Jakarta Health Service (Dinkes) then vaccinated certain priority groups to suppress and prevent the spread of the monkeypox virus (monkeypox) in the capital city.

“Vaccination for groups who are vulnerable to infection,” said Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Service (Dinkes) Ani Ruspitawati after the 2023 Jakarta Public Relations Award event when asked by media crew about developments in handling the monkey pox case in Jakarta, Thursday (9/11).
