The latest news comes from Rafael Alun Trisambodo. The appeal from a former official from the Directorate General of Taxes was rejected by a judge at the DKI Jakarta High Court.
Rafael Alun emerged last year after being caught in a corruption case. His corrupt actions became public gossip after his son, Mario Dandy Satriyo, went viral in an abuse case.
Rafael Alun dealt with the KPK until he was finally named a suspect. He then underwent trial as a suspect in gratification and laundering crimes.

The panel of judges at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court then found Rafael Alun guilty. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison and a fine of IDR 500 million.
“Sentenced the defendant Rafael Alun Trisambodo to 14 years in prison,” said presiding judge Suparman Nyompa at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday (8/1).
The judge said Rafael Alun was proven to have received gratification of IDR 10 billion through PT ARME. Meanwhile, allegations of gratification from a number of companies mentioned in the indictment were declared not proven.
The judge also stated that Rafael Alun was proven to have committed TPPU. Rafael is said to have disguised the results of his corruption.
Rafael Alun opposed the first instance decision. He then appealed to the DKI Jakarta High Court. Today the decision on Rafael Alun’s appeal was finally made known to the public.
Judge Rejects Appeal Rafael Alun
Rafael Alun Trisambodo still sentenced to 14 years in prison and a fine of IDR 500 million on appeal. The DKI High Court (PT) judge declared Rafael Alun guilty of receiving gratuities and committing the crime of money laundering (TPPU).
“Sentenced the Defendant Rafael Alun Trisambodo to prison for 14 years and a fine of Rp. 500,000,000. If not paid, the sentence will be replaced by imprisonment for three months,” said the decision as reported on the PT DKI Jakarta website, Thursday (14/3 /2024).
The decision was made by Tjokorda Rai Suamba as chief judge with member judges Tony Pribadi, Erwan Munawar, high-ranking judges at the DKI Jakarta High Court, as well as Margareta Yulie Bartin Setyaningsih, and Gatut Sulistyo, ad hoc judges for Corruption at the DKI Jakarta High Court.
The verdict was pronounced in a trial open to the public on Thursday, March 7 2024.
Rafael Alun was also sentenced to pay compensation amounting to IDR 10,079,095,519. If it is not paid within 1 month after the decision has permanent legal force (or inkrah), the property is confiscated by the prosecutor and auctioned to cover the replacement money.
“Imposing an additional penalty to the Defendant Rafael Alun Trisambodo to pay replacement money amounting to Rp. 10,079,095,519.00 (ten billion seventy-nine million ninety-five thousand five hundred and nineteen rupiah) provided that if the Defendant does not pay the replacement money within 1 (one ) months after the decision has permanent legal force, the prosecutor’s property can be confiscated and auctioned off to cover the compensation money,” he said.
Rafael was declared proven guilty of receiving gratuities and committing the crime of money laundering (TPPU) as regulated and punishable by crime in Article 12 B in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Eradication Law (UU Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code and Article 3 paragraph 1 letters a and c of Law 25/2003 concerning TPPU in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code and Article 3 of Law 8/2010 concerning Prevention and Eradication of TPPU in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to -1 Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
