At the same time, it is still not possible to know how the capital reached a situation close to bankruptcy. According to Zsolt Wintermantel, the leader of the Fidesz-KDNP faction in the capital, the left-wing city government “applauded” the extra two hundred billion HUF, which Gergely Karácsony collected more business tax in the last four years than István Tarlós in his last four years. He pointed out that the mayor is constantly explaining the failed certificate, and his deputy Ambrus Kiss is also his partner in this. However, according to the leader of the faction, none of them has answered the question of where the money is.
They are suing at the end of May
Today’s general meeting will also decide whether the city administration will submit its claim to the Capital Court at the end of May. Gergely Karácsony announced a few weeks ago that a lawsuit will be filed against the government in an administrative court to reduce the amount of the solidarity contribution. General Deputy Mayor Ambrus Kiss said at last week’s background discussion that this lawsuit is an important element of the so-called survival program. They are also asking the court to prohibit debt collection. By the way, the left-wing city administration questions the amount of solidarity contribution collected for the purpose of supporting poorer municipalities, and does not consider it legal. Ambrus Kiss mentioned that in the first four months of this year, the operating costs of the capital were approximately HUF 105 billion, 38 percent of which went to public transport, and 19 percent to the payment of the solidarity contribution, which they believe is unfair and excessive.
