Djurgården lost points in the gold match

Djurgården aimed to take three points at home against Mjällby, which is second to last, to continue to top the table with three points. But that did not happen.

The match ended 0-0 and thus they now lead the Allsvenskan with one point ahead of Malmö FF and AIK, who both took on the league leader.

But despite it being 0-0, there was no shortage of goal chances.

After only three minutes, the away team Mjällby was close to taking the lead when the MFF loan Amin Sarr came free and would roll the ball into the open goal, but Hjalmar Ekdal took a sacrificial run home, threw himself and saved on the goal line.

Five minutes later, Mjällby got another chance when Joel Nilsson entered the penalty area and finished. But Jacob Widell Zetterström saved.

Djurgården’s first chance came after 26 minutes. Haris Radetinac appeared on cue near the post, and steered it past the goalie. It ended up with Kalle Holmberg who got a great position, but missed.

In the second half, Mjällby had one chance and Djurgården four.

Mjällby’s chance was a huge opportunity when Jacob Bergström was released after a long ball, but the finish had more to be desired.

For Djurgården, Hjalmar Ekdal tried with a nod. Magnus Eriksson with a shot from outside and Edward Chilufya with speed.

But Emmanuel Banda got the chance of the match with five minutes left. All alone, three meters in front of goal, and he only had to put in 1-0 – but the away team’s goalkeeper Carl Johan Eriksson answered for a nice save and fixed an important point for his Mjällby.

After the match, coach Anders Torstensson was annoyed at a situation at the end where Une Larsson embraced Jacob Bergström.

– I think we should have a clear punishment and I think the referee falls for the crowd pressure, he says to Discovery +.

Djurgården’s coach Kim Bergstrand was divided on the effort:

– It’s like that. We do not win the match is number one and then there is more to be desired both on the field and in the penalty area. A little of each, he says and continues:

– We do not get out where we want and it is a little too slow today.
