Djurgården acts in the crisis.

Head coach Johan Garpenlöv and assistant coach Marcus Ragnarsson are fired.

“I thank you for my time in DIF”, writes “Garpen” to Sportbladet.

Last week, Sportbladet revealed details of an internal dissatisfaction with coach Johan Garpenlöv, where both leadership and the playing system were criticized.

Now “Garpen” and assistant coach Marcus Ragnarsson are fired with immediate effect. They led Sunday’s practice and were informed later in the evening by sporting director KG Stoppel.

Sportbladet has been in contact with Johan Garpenlöv, who does not want to comment at the moment, “but I thank you for my time in DIF and wish you luck in your journey to the SHL”.

“Boring”

Marcus Ragnarsson is speechless after the announcement.

– Of course it’s boring, absolutely. We haven’t got it right, don’t have many more comments than that, says Ragnarsson.

How are you feeling right now?

– Boring.

Why haven’t you got it working?

– Maybe have to digest this first to give a good explanation of what I think has been the problem.

Zeroed at home against Nybro

Friday’s 0–2 loss at home against Nybro was Garpenlöv’s last game as head coach for the club. Djurgården is in twelfth place in the hockey Allsvenskan after 13 games played.

Monday’s training will be led by Michael Holmqvist, writes Djurgården on its website.

Garpenlöv took over the role of head coach at the end of November last fall, while Ragnarsson took over as assistant coach in May of the same year.
