Tobias Gulliksen had a dream debut in Djurgården.

The new acquisition has promised Bosse Andersson that he will be the sporting director’s best purchase ever.

– I stand for it, says the Norwegian after advancing in the Swedish Cup.

One record man to another.

That’s what it looked like when Djurgården broke the deadlock against IFK Göteborg with a quarter to go.

The club’s most expensive sale Lucas Bergvall matched the most expensive purchase Tobias Gulliksen – who snarled the ball in from distance and had to celebrate in front of the new home supporters.

– It was fun. A lot of people came today and that helps us a lot, says the goalscorer.

It was afterwards that Bosse Andersson told me that Gulliksen had promised that he would become the sporting director’s “best player purchase ever”.

– Time will tell, but I stand for it, says the new acquisition.

Shortly after the 1–0 goal, Blåvitt’s Adam Carlén received his second yellow card.

– I put us in a bit of a mess, says the 23-year-old.

With one more man, Deniz Hümmet doubled the home lead from close range. And then Besard Sabovic happened to score – from his own half.

His deep pass found its way all the way into the goal after Pontus Dahlberg kicked a hole in the air.

– It’s laughable, but that’s not what will be decisive, says the goalkeeper.

Double damage

In advance, the match was a group final – and after the 0–3 loss, IFK Gothenburg comes second and is eliminated.

Instead, Djurgården goes to the quarter-finals after three consecutive cup victories.

But then there are question marks surrounding two players who were forced to leave the field prematurely. Rasmus Schüller got a bandage around his head and Samuel Leach Holm around his thigh.

– Rasmus had to sew a little. Then they thought it best to pick him off. We’ll see how serious it is. A little banging and wrapped thighs are part of it, says Lagerlöf.

IFK Göteborg’s changes attracted a different kind of attention.

At 0–0, a quadruple substitution was made. Jens Askou took out his nine and three quarters of the backline.

– Sometimes it works out well, sometimes the match goes the other way. But it felt right to do and give what we had in the squad, says the coach.

Tomorrow the last group stage matches will be played and then the quarter-finals will be drawn. The four best group winners get to play at home – an advantage that it is clear that Djurgården will get.
