Radio DJs Sander Hoogendoorn and Frank van der Lende switch to Radio Veronica, reports the broadcaster. Until recently, they had a prominent place in the programming of the public channel NPO 3FM.

The 34-year-old Hoogendoorn can be heard at Veronica from October in the early evening from Monday to Thursday, Van der Lende (33) on Friday evening. It is not yet known what programs they will make.

Until recently, Hoogendoorn presented the morning show on NPO 3FM and Van der Lende made a program there with Eva Koreman from 4 to 7 p.m. They were recently taken off their timings.

“Veronica feels like a group of music friends in a smoky attic room, surrounded by thousands of records and CDs,” says Hoogendoorn. “I’m really excited to join this group of friends and share my love for music!”

‘Incredibly happy’

Van der Lende: “If you say Frank, you say live music and it occupies an important place on Friday evening at Veronica. I am extremely happy that I will soon be able to make radio on Veronica, surrounded by all my musical friends.” Van der Lende will be freelancing for the rest of the week, he writes Instagram.

Channel manager and Radio Veronica DJ Rob Stenders thinks it’s “fantastic” that the two DJs are making this step. It was previously announced that Sander Lantinga will move from Radio 538 to Radio Veronica as of October.

Plunging listening figures

BNNVara, the current employer of the DJs, is “very sorry” that the two are leaving. “They are idiosyncratic radio makers, who have helped us and NPO 3FM further and put them on the map. We would have liked to continue with Sander and Frank, but of course we wish both all the best for the future.”

NPO 3FM has to deal with plummeting listening figures. In May, the public broadcaster controlled about 2.2 percent of the market, half less than five years ago and only a quarter of the 3FM market share in 2012. Channel manager Sharid Alles announced her departure at the end of last year, Menno de Boer succeeded her.
