Djokovic won’t stop, he’ll win 26 Grand Slam titles – Free Press

The former world number one, and now Mats Wilander, Eurosport commentator commented on it Novak Djokovic’s participation in the US Open.

– We should stop being surprised when he loses, but be even more surprised that he still wins tournaments at 37. The man is incredible – Wilander said for “Sports club” .

Wilander agreed with Djokovic that the change of surface, i.e. the transition from a clay court surface, makes it very difficult to perform at the fourth Grand Slam.

– I think Novak explained everything well at the press conference. It is difficult to play on clay in the middle of the season and not play a single match before the US Open – Wilander said.

The seven-time Grand Slam winner is confident that the Serbian tennis player will win two more Grand Slam titles.

– At the moment I don’t see him getting older, I don’t think this is the year when you think “oh, he’s 37”. Physically I don’t see him getting older, mentally he seems to be getting smarter. I think he’ll win a few more Grand Slams, end up with 26 Grand Slam titles. It’s a surprise that he lost, but Popyrin did what many couldn’t do – serve in the corners, hit the ball with all his might at times, play with a backhand variation – in Wilander’s words.

Currently, Djokovic has 24 Grand Slam titles on the all-time list, two more than Spaniard Rafael Nadal, and Switzerland’s Roger Federer has 20.
