Serbian Novak Djokovic won the ATP Finals tennis championship for the sixth time in its history, beating Norway’s Casper Rudd.
Sharjah 24 – Asad Khalil:
Serbian Novak Djokovic, eighth in the world, won the ATP Finals Tennis Championship for the sixth time in his history by beating Norwegian Casper Ruud 7-5 6-3 in the final in Turin.
The 35-year-old Djokovic, who played in the eighth out of 15 finals of the tournament, equaled the number of titles registered in the name of Swiss legend Roger Federer.
The Serbian, former world number one, ended his season in the best possible way after a disappointing start that saw him expelled from Australia for refusing to receive the vaccine against the “Covid-19” virus and preventing him from defending the title at the Australian Open, the first of the four major tournaments.
It is Djokovic’s second major title this season after Wimbledon, his third Grand Slam.
The Serbian waited 7 years to win the Final Championship title and tie Federer’s record, as he last lifted the cup in the competition was in 2015, and became the oldest player to win the title.
