Djokovic qualifies for the Olympic final

At 37 years and 74 days, Novak Djokovic is also the oldest player to qualify for the Olympic men’s singles final. The Serbian, bronze medallist in Beijing in 2008, is guaranteed to win another medal, this time gold or silver.

Djokovic wants revenge against Musetti

Injured in the right knee, where he underwent his operation last June, during his match against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals, Novak Djokovic was present on the Philippe-Chatrier court to face Lorenzo Musetti in the semi-final.

The start of the match was very tight with two players who traded blows. But it was finally Novak Djokovic who knew how to accelerate in the money time. While the Italian led 40-0 to 4-5 in favor of the Serb, the latter managed to turn the tide to break his opponent and switch to the lead of this match.

Broken at the start of the second act, Novak Djokovic pressed the accelerator to win the last five games of the match to qualify for the final of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where he will face Carlos Alcaraz.

I have nothing to lose on Sunday

“It was an intense match with a lot of stress! It’s my first Olympic final, it’s already a huge result for me. I hope to win the gold medal of course, but it’s already a guaranteed medal for my country,” said Novak Djokovic after his victory.

“At my age, I am very happy to have a day off tomorrow (Saturday). Playing against Carlos Alcaraz in the final is the biggest challenge I can have at the moment. I feel better than at Wimbledon, I move better, and I have nothing to lose on Sunday.”

This is probably Novak Djokovic’s last chance to try to win the gold medal, the only major title missing from his list of achievements.
