Jan-Lennard Struff made it into the quarter-finals of an ATP Masters for the first time and will now meet world number one Novak Djokovic. Struff defeated the favorite Belgian David Goffin at the Western and Southern Open in New York after 2:10 hours with 6: 4, 3: 6, 6: 4. “I am very happy to have beaten a top ten player with Goffin,” said the 30-year-old after the match.

The Serbian Djokovic beat Tennys Sandgren from the USA 6: 2, 6: 4 without much effort. Djokovic is “one of the best, he plays very well. But the more often he wins, the higher the chance that he will lose, ”said Struff. The German clearly lost the previous three duels, at the Australian Open in January he took at least one sentence from the Serb.
