Novak Djokovic, the planet’s first racket in men’s tennis, was disqualified from the US Open on Sunday for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Djokovic was in the first set of the fourth round or eighth final with 5-6 against Spaniard Pavlo Carenjo-Bust and lost his temper after a lost point. The tennis player hit the ball with a racket, which hit the referee on the neck.
The line judge grabbed her neck and started coughing, but Djokovic hurried over to ask if she was okay. After a few minutes, she got up and left the court.

After about ten minutes of discussion, the referee decided to give the Spanish tennis player the victory. Thus, the number 27 of the ranking Karenjo-Busta, who was placed with the number 20, entered the next round.
The last time a tennis player was disqualified in a Grand Slam tournament was in 2000, when Austrian Stefan Koubek threw a racket and hit the feeder in the second round of the French Open.
The Serbian tennis player had won all 26 previous games this season and suffered his first loss in 2020 on Sunday. Djokovic has won three of his 17 “Grand Slam” titles in the United States. Last year, he stopped in the fourth round due to an injury.
Carenjo-Bust, on the other hand, is the most successful of the Grand Slam tournaments, as in 2017 he reached the semifinals in New York.
After Djokovic’s resignation, it has become known that a new Grand Slam champion will be crowned next Sunday, as the 14 tennis players left in the tournament do not have the highest trophies.
Due to an injury, the experienced Swiss Roger Federer does not start in the prestigious tournament, but the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who triumphed at the US Open last year, also withdrew.
New York was one of the worst-hit U.S. cities in March and April, when the Covid-19 epidemic took over the United States. The temporary hospital was even set up on the indoor courts of the US Tennis Center.
