Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Novak Djokovic He was again detained in Australia on Saturday (15/1) after authorities revoked his visa for a second time and declared the tennis star a refusal to vaccinate Covid-19 it is a threat to the public.

A court document shows the 34-year-old is currently being held in Melbourne when his appeal against the deportation sentence is heard by the Australian Federal Court.

Just two days before the Australian Open begins, the world number one must return to his focus on legal matters.

Australian Immigration Minister, Alex Hawke, claimed Djokovic’s presence in his country could foster anti-vaccination sentiment and could trigger unrest in society.

The Australian government considers Djokovic’s presence to be a threat to public health and order, especially because they are experiencing a high wave of the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus.

“His presence in our country could pose a health risk to Australians by reinforcing anti-vaccine sentiment and preventing people from getting boosters,” Hawke said.

Djokovic was subsequently summoned to appear before immigration officials in Melbourne ahead of emergency Federal Court hearings on Saturday and Sunday.

He was allowed to appear in court from what is believed to be his lawyer’s office which is under the watchful eye of the Australian Border Force.
