DJI’s new drone “Mini 2 SE” can fly up to 10 km away

It has been rumored for quite some time that DJI is planning to release a new affordable drone model. Rumors have turned out to be true – DJI has released the new “Mini 2 SE” drone, which is an improved version of the “Mini SE” that the company announced in August 2021.

The main innovation between the two versions is that the Mini 2 SE is equipped with an internal OcuSync 2.0 transmission system, which means that the drone can fly twice as far as its predecessor, the Mini SE, or up to 10 km away. This is probably the most significant improvement.

A very small but sometimes very significant improvement is that the Mini 2 SE can run for 31 minutes on a single battery charge. That’s exactly one minute more than the Mini SE can deliver. Admittedly, this is a rather modest improvement, but when working with such devices, even a minute counts. I realized this while testing the DJI Mavic Mini 2. Also, the camera system of the new drone has been slightly improved, which is now capable of recording 2.7K video and 12MP images.

In general, the Mini 2 SE is quite identical to the previous Mini SE model. Like its predecessor, the Mini 2 SE weighs less than 249 grams, which automatically means that the aircraft does not need to be registered. However, this does not exempt you from the obligation to learn the basics of drone piloting, so as not to make any unexpected and ignorant mistakes during flight.

The DJI Mini 2 SE will cost $369, which is $70 off the Mini SE’s original price.
