Authorities, who once dealt only with affairs on the ground, now have to consider a new factor: the Internet. Improperly used by ill-intentioned people, it is a very dangerous tool. While some individuals take advantage of the visibility offered by this technology to appeal for donations or help, others, much less honest, use it to promote less honorable activities.
According to the Arabic-language media Ennahar, a man in his thirties, residing in the wilaya of Djelfa, allegedly promoted prostitution through “making appointments”. It was through a press release that the media managed to get more information about the case. More than a week ago, the man launched a video broadcast live on the social network Facebook in which he claimed to be dating prostitutes.
The authorities arrest the individual – he receives a prison sentence
Following this direction of promoting prostitution, the authorities did not remain indifferent to the situation. As a result, searches by the police were launched relating to the city of Aïn Oussara and these operations quickly led to the arrest of the man in question.
As part of that lawsuit, the defendant was presented to the prosecutor for defamation on social networks.
The man was then tried to answer for his actions. He was therefore sentenced to five (05) years in prison, as well as a fine of DZD 300,000 with bail.
