His dog Tuco alerted him that something was wrong and he DJ Victor Calderone decided to go to the doctor. In the ER, he was diagnosed with cancer. “Your dog has saved your life”the doctor told him. This is his story.

How a dog can detect cancer
The case of Tuco and DJ Victor Calderone is a striking case, but not new. The developed sense of smell in dogs, between 10,000 and 10,000 times higher than that of humans, is capable of detecting the change in odor produced by cancer cells.
When a person is sick, the affected area (where the tumor is) usually smells differently and hence the animal sniffs the sick person more than necessary. That can put you on alert.
There are stories like that of a woman with breast cancer who came to a checkup after seeing that your dog couldn’t stop smelling his chest or another woman, with ovarian cancer, who realized that something was wrong when she saw that her dog he smelled her abdomen and then hid in the closet.
For a dog to be able to detect cancer, you don’t need to be trained. Of course, in that case it is important that the owner be able to read the signs, like the New York DJ, and go to the doctor.
