Division in the Leonese PP a few hours after the convocation of its provincial congress | Radio Leon

A few hours after the Popular Party of León designs the calendar that will guide them until their next provincial congress, internal differences explode within the formation.

The regional president in El Bierzo, Raúl Valcarce, accuses Javier Santiago of “using the name of Genoa for his own benefit”. Valcarce assures that the national leadership of the party “He has not spoken to express his support for any candidacy” and, what is more, he is convinced that the bet of the mayor of Almanza is going to fail. “99% of the guarantees in El Bierzo have gone for another candidacy” affirms the regional person in charge of the PP, something that he attributes to the fact that Javier Santiago’s support for Bierzo has been quite lukewarm. “If you really bet on El Bierzo, it should be staged”; a support that Javier Santiago “It has passed through the Arc de Triomphe” since his right hand in the candidacy is also a militant from León.

Valcarce makes this criticism in reference to the figure of David fernandez, partner of the candidacy of Javier Santiago. He affirms that he has been working with him for more than two months and complicity is maximum in the objective of achieving “a strong and united PP from Leon”. In any case, Javier Santiago guarantees full support to the Bierzo region: advance that in its board of directors there will be more presence than ever of Bercian militants.

Santiago trusts that his candidacy will be able to unite all the currents of the party so that the PP holds a congress without shocks next July. He considers that his presidency may mean “A change of model” in the party that allows training regain power lost in recent years.
