NÖN: In a few days you will start at the World Cup. How does that sound to you?
Samuel Platt: Very exciting. It’s a new chapter, I’d say. I’m already excited.
The World Cup is taking place in Canada, a long way from home. Do you know more or less what to expect?
Platt: Not really, but just hoping for the best. Of course, the coaches have prepared us a little. I think there will be a lot of spectators, because the World Cup only takes place every two years, it’s something special.
How big is the Austrian delegation?
Platt: There are five of us, four boys and one girl. Plus two coaches. Otherwise all nations are represented, from China to Italy.
How long and how intensively did you prepare specifically for this event?
Platt: After the summer holidays I started training again. Since then I have been training seven times a week until now. Wednesday and Sunday are days off, so I train twice on Tuesday and Thursday. We’ve added some units for the World Cup.
What is the approach for such an important moment? Relying on the proven you can safely master? Or train new stuff and take risks with it?
Platt: We are already training new things, which are obviously more difficult, in order to get more points. But you should also make jumps that you can do and not just for luck. So a middle way.
How much effort does it take to learn new jumps now compared to your first ones at the beginning?
Platt: It’s definitely getting harder and harder. It takes more and more time to perfect jumps.
It starts from the table of one and three meters. Is there a goal?
Platt: I’m just getting my jumps right, not screwing up a jump. And just to gain experience.
