The laureates of the Latvian public media annual award “Kilograms kulturas 2022” were honored live on Friday evening, the exhibition and monograph “Purvītis” will be held in honor of last year’s brightest cultural event, the portal “Lsm.lv” reports.
The curator of the Latvian National Art Museum exhibition “Purvītis” was Aija Brasliņa, while the monographs published by “Neputns” publishing house were compiled by Laima Slava.
In the “Pop culture” category, the gilded kilogram weight was won by the creators of the concert performance “Ziedonis. Lācis. Vīrieši”. On June 18 and 19, the music performed at Daile Theater was composed by Kārlis Lācis, while the director of the performance was Reinis Suhanovs.
In the “Music” category, viewers and listeners highly rated the season opening concert of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra on September 17 in the “Lielais dzintars” concert hall, where flautist Dita Krenberga, organist Iveta Apkalnas and pianist Reinis Zariņš played, while Guntis Kuzma conducted.
In the “Literature” section, the author Ieva Struka received the monograph about Anšlava Eglīti “About the beautiful and dark life”. The monograph was published by the publishing house “Dienas Krūmta”.
The prize in the “Visual art” category was won by the organizers of the artist workshops opened by the Karosta water tower in Liepaja – painters Veronika Frolova and Reinis Liepa, sculptor Egons Perševits. The workshops were organized by Perševits in cooperation with the Karosta Rescue Society.
The “Surprise” of the year was recognized as a poster by the artist Kriš Salmani with a depiction of Vladimir Putin on the cover of the “Ir” magazine and opposite the Russian embassy on the wall of the Paul Stradins Medical History Museum.
In the “Cinema” category, viewers and listeners highly rated the multi-part feature film “Criminal Case for Beginners” by director Armandas Zvirbulis, produced by “Red Dot Media”.
In the “Heritage” category, the Āgenskalns market was awarded, which was newly created by SIA “Kalnciema iela”, “Architektes Lienes Griezītes studio” and the project’s author, Liene Griezīte.
In the “Starts” category, the students of the musical department of the Riga Cathedral Choir School won for their production of the musical “Pūt, vējiņi” by Kārlis Lāčas.
On the other hand, the “Kilograms of Cultures” award for the best performance in the theater of the past year went to the play “Žižek. Petersons. Gadsimta duelis” staged in the New Riga Theater by Alvja Hermani.
The jury of the award consisted of Ieva Rozentāle, head of Latvian Television’s (LTV) cultural program editorial office, journalists Lilita Eglīte, Anete Ašmane, Daira Āboliņa and Henrieta Verhoustinska, Kaspars Zaviļeiskis, producer and music journalist of LTV’s “Kultūrdeva” program, director of Latvian Radio “Klasika” Gunda Vaivode and journalists. Orests Silabriedis, Liene Jakovļeva, as well as Latvian Radio journalist Toms Treibergs and Laila Burāne, editor of the culture section of the “Lsm.lv” portal.
“Kilograms kulturas 2022” laureates receive a cash prize from the Nákotnes Attalbas fund.
“Kilograms kulturas” is a public media award in the field of culture, which confirms the active participation of public media in the cultural life processes of Latvia. The award is given by LTV, Latvian Radio and Latvian public media portal “Lsm.lv”. The tradition was started in 2012, when awards were presented for the brightest cultural events of 2011.
