Although Joe Biden has been declared president-elect of the United States of America, the American elections have not yet officially ended. Donald Trump therefore has a few more days to try to reverse the outcome and secure another four years at the White House. The most recent trump card – and possibly the last chance – involves Michigan’s Republican leaders.
According to The Guardian, Donald Trump’s plan is to persuade congressmen to divert votes from Joe Biden and alter the current design of the electoral college map so that it becomes more red than blue. The same publication stresses that this is a futile but dangerous bet, unprecedented in Modern History in the USA.
The president still disputes all the decisions already taken in court and all the authorities that guarantee that this was the safest election ever. “The entire election, frankly, in all decisive states must be revoked,” Sidney Powell, one of Donald Trump’s lawyers, tells Fox Business Network.
To carry out his plan, Donald Trump has already met with Michigan leaders at the White House, notably Mike Shirley and Lee Chatfield. After the meeting, both assured that they intend to obey the electoral process, showing no intention to align with the president.
“We have yet to obtain any information that would change the outcome of the Michigan election,” said Mike Shirley and Lee Chatfield in a joint press release.
Still, it may just be apparent good news for American democracy. According to The Guardian, experts have warned of the danger of a president capable of this type of strategy, which can result in “poisoning millions of minds”.
