Question from Mr. MARIE Didier (Seine-Maritime – SER) published on 10/10/2024
Mr Didier Marie draws the attention of the Minister of the Interior to the ease with which it is possible to obtain fireworks which are nevertheless prohibited for sale to the general public on French soil. These fireworks are sometimes diverted from their original use and cause disturbances to public order. Their use disturbs local residents and endangers personal safety.
Several municipalities were able to observe the damage caused by the use of these new “weapons” in the summer of 2023 during the urban violence that occurred following the death of young Nahel in Nanterre. Although measures have been taken to combat the sale and possession of these fireworks, it is clear that some are still circulating in the territory. The recent events that occurred on the night of February 15 to 16, 2024 in the town of Grand-Couronne where a national police car was targeted and completely burned following fireworks prove this once again.
The presence of these fireworks and the misuse of their use creates a climate of insecurity in certain communities. It would seem that the resources made available to the police are not sufficient to stem the phenomenon. He would therefore like to know the concrete measures that the Government intends to take to reduce access to these fireworks in order to stop the diversion of their initial use.
