There are exhibitions where you want to return, and it is a pleasure that such a unique art collection has finally been gathered in one place. I can gather the exhibition “Visionary of the Age. Auseklis Baušķenieks ”, which can be seen from June 10 to September 18 in the right wing of the main floor of the main building of the Latvian National Museum of Art.

Auseklis Baušķenieks (1910–2007) is a unique painter who masterfully depicted various mise-en-scenes and unusual images – aliens, robots and giants – in his works, with his characteristic pastel colors and vibrating dotted painting method.

Art historian Agnese Zviedre says that through humor and irony he depicted the events of man and his life, the Soviet society and the absurd nature of the regime, which was quite inconvenient for the then power – for a couple of years Baušķenieks was not allowed to mention , but rather allowed everyone to identify with the images.

This exhibition is dedicated to the artist’s work, in which he will focus on the issues of man, society, science and technology. It has four sections that grow into each other: man as an individual, man and family, man and society, science and the future. The exhibition is complemented by three kinetic objects created by Baušķenieks, which characterize the author’s passionate interest in radio amateurism.
